On campus in Plano, TX

LEGO® Robotics Club at Little Marvels Montessori

A hands-on robotics club, taught on campus in Plano by BricksNBrushes4Kids. Children build a machine, program it, watch it fail, and work out why — the material tells them whether they are right, so the learning is theirs rather than ours.

Ages
4–12, in three groups
When
Tuesday afternoons, 3:15–5:15 PM
Price
$60 a month

Starts Tuesday 6 October 2026

One session a week

Three age groups

Children work with others at their own stage, on equipment built for their hands. Younger groups meet earlier in the afternoon, older groups later.

Ages 4–5

Little Builders

Tuesdays

3:15 PM – 3:45 PM · 30 min

Large bricks, gears, wheels and levers. The youngest children build machines they can push, pull and roll, and discover how movement is made before a single line of code appears.

  • 🔧 Large-format bricks — nothing small
  • 🔧 Gears, wheels, levers, simple machines
  • 🔧 No screens in this group
20 places in this group

Ages 6–8

Robotics Explorers

Tuesdays

4:00 PM – 4:30 PM · 30 min

Motors and sensors enter the build. Children give their machine instructions with drag-and-drop blocks, then adjust one thing at a time until it behaves the way they meant.

  • 🔧 Motors, colour and distance sensors
  • 🔧 Drag-and-drop block coding on a tablet
  • 🔧 Build, test, fix, build again
20 places in this group

Ages 9–12

Robotics Engineers

Tuesdays

4:45 PM – 5:15 PM · 30 min

A brief to solve — sort these, lift that, follow this line. Older children design, build and program a machine that answers it, picking the work back up each week and moving from blocks into written code.

  • 🔧 Multi-motor builds with sensor feedback
  • 🔧 Block coding moving into text code
  • 🔧 A design brief to solve each term

What it costs

$60

a month, per child

A monthly subscription of $60 per child, covering one 30-minute session every Tuesday. It renews each month until you tell us to stop, and you pay BricksNBrushes4Kids directly rather than the school.

The club runs to a fixed weekly schedule, so missed sessions cannot be rescheduled or carried over.

What is included

  • All kits, bricks and materials provided
  • Taught on campus — no pickup, no extra driving
  • Twenty places in each group, so friends and siblings can join together
  • Kits live at school, so there is nothing to carry or lose
  • A build can carry on across weeks, exactly where your child left it
  • One 30-minute session every Tuesday

For parents and school staff

Who is teaching your child

CMU-certified instructor

Taught by a certified instructor who teaches every session herself — not a rotating roster of assistants.

The same instructor, every week

Not a rotating roster. Your child works with someone who remembers what they built last Tuesday and what they were stuck on.

Insured and documented

Certificate of insurance and W-9 provided to the school on request.

Equipment suited to the age

The youngest children work with large-format pieces only. Nothing small goes in front of a four-year-old.

Questions parents ask

Does my child need any experience with robotics or coding?

None. Every group starts from the beginning, and children who arrive already building at home are given a harder brief rather than a faster one.

My child is already in the Little Marvels after-school programme. Can they join?

Yes — that is who this is designed for. Children in the after-school group are collected and brought to the club room, and returned afterwards.

Do we need to buy a kit?

No. We bring everything, and the kits stay at school between sessions.

Is this the same as your McKinney studio programme?

No, and the price reflects that. This is a weekly on-campus club where the kits stay at school. Our McKinney studio runs a fuller weekly programme with a take-home project every week, at $150 a month.

How does payment work?

It is a monthly subscription of $60 per child, paid directly to BricksNBrushes4Kids rather than through the school. It renews each month until you tell us to stop, and we will send payment details once your child’s place is confirmed.

What happens if we miss a session?

The club runs to a fixed weekly schedule, so a missed session cannot be rescheduled, made up or carried into another week. Do let us know if your child will be away — it helps us plan the session for the children who are there.
